Blog Post #1: A country you would like to visit

Hi everyone!

My name is Matías Jaque, student of Chemistry and Pharmacy of 3° year.

I would like to visit Indonesia, a country ubicated in the continent of Asia, its made up for more than 17500 islands. I'd like to visit this country because I'm interested of its geological structures, I love the nature and there are a lot of mountains to climb and active volcanos. I know there is much people that say Indonesia has a world of beauty and diversity. I'm so surprised, because I discovered that there are many beaches where you can surf and dive. I always wanted to practice dive under the water... Maybe in a river or the ocean... I don't know, its a dream that I wish to realize. Also Indonesia have the second tropical forest mostest big in the planet. so I'd like to do all I mentioned previously in this country.

I'm not sure if I would like to study and live there, I don't know how this country manages this topics and how its works the country system. And about the work... I'm not very sure, because I think the pharmaceutical legislation between Chile and Indonesia could be different. But... yes, I'd like to work there and every other country.

A threat in front you...

Hi everyone! I really hope you are taking a relaxing week.

Well, I really like to study when I am interested in a subject, such as university courses, however, there are some non-university subjects that I loved to study, because they helped me understand the world in a different way.

This is the case of  Climate Change, Its a subject that I always have been interested and enjoyed, since I was a little student, that I always said we need to take care our earth, until today. Learning more about this helped me to open my eyes, that climate change is indeed a fact and is happening today, affecting to our home. All the territories with vegetation and fauna, many lives present here, are being violated for the disastrous consequences of water droughts, forest fires, wind storms, changes in the sea... All this life above earth is gonna disapear soon, even the life under the earth, the animals of the sea: fish, mollusks, whales, dolphins, coral reefs... Also, the glaciers will begin to melt and it will affect the penguins. 

And much things that I'd like that you can motivate yourself and reading about this.

Before I studied it, its seems to the people don't care this subject.

Is incredible the lack of interest for something that thearen to everyone in this world and future generations too. For this reason We must participate, get informed to inform the people, and act from the territories. 

Today Chile has a historic opportunity to write in this constituent process that stop the abuses, because the people are not responsible, The authorities are responsible because they put economic power over the people, exposing the territories and practicing extractivism.

I'd like to write more about this subject but I'm done with the words hahaha.

Do I admire someone?

Hi everyone! I hope you are fine. On this moment I'm trying to think of someone I admire but I don't really have references. However I have considered my pre-universitary physics teacher. She was able to make me understand the relevance of sciences, with her I was able to watch the scientific content in a funny way. Also, this teacher makes me learn basic sciences like physics, chemical, and maths. Taking this base I caught myself in the world of curiosity, everything was magnific and in that moment I wanted to discover all of the misterys arround this wolrd, but not only earth misterys, I'm talking about everything, even outer space, "the universe".

It should be noted that I don't really admire someone, but this teacher is currently living in Spain, she currently doesn't teaching physics and I'm so grateful with her.

Until this day I haven't people to admire and I think that although Its great to admire someone from our scientific area, admiring yourself is the best you can have.

Chemistry and Pharmacy and a better world for People, from health

Hi everyone!

Today I'm going to tell you about how can your mayor make the world a better place? In my case, from my career Chemistry and Pharmacy.

In the future I would like to interact with other people and with patients and promote the rational use of medicines, also discovering and manufacturing new medicines to improve public health problems that threaten the population.

I would like to be a responsible health professional with a gender perspective, with a class conscience and an ecological perspective, because we live in a world that is totally diverse. Understanding that currently the health in Chile is not the same for everyone and We as professionals must change. The health must be promoted with respect and it must be inclusive for all people, and also, considering that we live in a world where climate change threatens us, so the pharmaceutical industries must mitigate pollution.

The role of the pharmaceutical chemist is very important, because this professional is the specialist in medicines, without this professional there would be no technological advances in medicines, a world where there would be no pharmacological therapies for human pathologies. There would be no treatments with drugs. medicines or cures for diseases. Medicines can help the well-being and health of the population.

A picture of Ranquil-Lonquimay

 

I took this photo in the summer of last year, for my vacations. At that moment I was in my grandmother's field, with my family, in Ranquil, near Lonquimay.

I took this photo on the rocks in the field that are very high above the ground, you can see that there are many trees, of different kind of green, you can also see that there is a river that separates the two sides.

On the other side of the river you can see "araucaria pines", these are native trees of the territory and the habitants take care of them, because these trees have a meaning for them: resistance, representativeness, affection and happiness. Every year the "araucaria pines" produce pine nuts that fall down from these heads. For me nature is amazing!

For me nature is our origin, nature is part of our identity, however over time humans have expropriated it. It also means the life of many species, animals and plants that fight for resist catastrophes and human deterioration. For me the photo represents tranquility and serenity, a little bit of calm and breeze that encourages you to slide thinking. Stay in that place means to me connecting with my interior, listening to myself, feeling the joy of forgetting everything. 

The versatile and tasty of cakes...

Hi everyone! I'd like to tell you about something that I love to eat... 

I really like to cook. I like to prepare and eat cakes: lemon pie, fruit tartlets, chocolate brownies, berry tarts, fruit kuchen, cookies, pancakes, etc. But my favorite is the tasty fluffy cake, its something simple, easy to cook and very tasty.

Prepare a cake is very easy, you need flour, baking powder, sugar, grated lemon, eggs, oil, water and some nuts such as almonds or walnuts. When I prepare a banana cake I don't need to use eggs and I think its very tasty, I recommend it to all people, 

The cake is quite versatile to prepare because you can prepare it in different ways, different flavors and different designs. I can use many other ingredients to prepare the cake and decorate it, to make it aesthetically beautiful.

I love to eat cake because of its texture and sweet things fascinate me, I like its fluffiness, I like its crust because it is tasty. Also I can accompany it with a tea cup or coffee at any time of the day.

However, the cake contains a lot of sugar in its composition, so it could be harmful to my health. This is why I decided to reduce the sugar intake in my daily diet to be able to enjoy a delicious cake.

And do you like to eat cakes?

Computher or Cell-phone?

I am a person who frequently uses these two technological devices. It was difficult for me to decide which of these two is my favorite.

The cell phone is the device that I spend more time compared to the PC, there I can have fun, search for information on the web and it is at my fingertips.

However, the computer is a very useful technological tool when it comes to studying at university, because on the web you can find a lot of things and the computher is more comfortable than the cell phone. Also I can play with my friends, I can have a lot of fun with this one.

The computer has helped me a lot in university, I am very grateful with this one. I have been able to do research on the web, I have been able to connect to online classes, I have been able to make video calls with my friends, that I love them very much. However, my vision has been negatively affected. Probably with the frequency that I use the computer I will have to use vision-glasses. 

I seriously recommend using the computer, as long as they are not excessive hours of use, because It have problems that threaten human health.
